Trigger Point Therapy

What is a trigger point?

Trigger points, or "knots" as they are commonly called, are adhesions in muscles that occur when the muscle is forced to contract repeatedly. A good workout, improper posture, overuse, and muscle imbalances are common causes of trigger points.

How To relieve trigger points

Applying deep pressure to a trigger point causes muscle fibers to release.  This resets the length of the muscle and relieves pain.

How to find a trigger point

Trigger points are easily found by moving massage tools over sore muscles until a "hot spot" is found. These points hurt when pressure is applied, but the pain is usually described as a "good pain" and typically eases after pressure has been applied.
